“Better Off Famous?” is the story of Annie. Annie is a vivacious teenager with her whole life ahead of her. She wants nothing more than to be a celebrity, I mean why wouldn’t someone want to be famous. Annie surely is a person who craves fame, until it comes and smacks her in the face. After auditioning for a school program, a casting director approaches Annie and tells her that he is fascinated with her look and thinks that she would be great for a television show that he is casting. Annie jumps at the chance at stardom and sure enough she is chosen to appear in the television show which is a teen soap opera set in New York City.

Annie loves her new job, but with all of the attention comes getting used to life in the spotlight. Celebrity isn’t exactly what Annie expected. The paparazzi are always hot on her trail and the life of a teen celebrity is much more demanding that Annie ever imagined.

“Better Off Famous?,” is an enjoyable teen read by author Jane Mendle. It is the first teen novel Jane Mendle has penned. It’s a cool book and teens who are fans of television shows like The Hills, Laguna Beach and Gossip Girls will really enjoy “Better Off Famous?”
