The music industry lost a great talent when Tupac Shakur was murdered in September of 1996. Although Tupac has been deceased for over a decade, his music career hasn’t slowed down a bit. The albums have kept coming and now Tupac fans can enjoy the two disc release of “The Best of 2Pac.” “The Best of 2Pac” features two CDs. The first CD is titled “Part 1: Thug.” This disc features several of Pac’s mid 90’s hit including “California Love,” “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted,” “I Ain’t Mad At Cha,” and “Hail Mary,”and “How Do You Want It?” The disc also includes several new songs including the brand new “Dear Mama” remix featuring Anthony Hamilton. Another previously unreleased song on the disc is “Resist The Temptation” featuring Amel Larrieux.”

Disc two is titled “The Best of 2Pac Part 2: Life.” This disc includes several of Pac’s more slowed down hits such as “Brenda’s Got A Baby,” “Keep Ya Head Up,” and the acoustic previously unreleased mix of “Thugz Mansion.”

“The Best of 2Pac,” is a sample of 2pac. Hardcore 2pac fans will look for what’s missing. Missing are well known tracks such as “When My Homies Call,” “I Get Around,” “Toss It Up,” and “Temptations.” The set doesn’t feature any of Pac’s big soundtrack songs, so don’t look for any of the 2pac songs from the soundtracks for Above The Rim or Gridlocked or Gang Related.

The good thing is that there are unreleased songs on the compilation and several of 2pac’s post-humus hits like “Changes.” There are several songs on the track that the titles may look foreign to the die-hard 2pac fan and they may be left wondering why a more popular song wasn’t included instead.

2Pac has such an extensive music catalog that fans will be choosy with anything that is presented as a “greatest hits,” type of compilation. “The Best of 2Pac” is just a sample of what 2pac had to offer as far as his music is concerned. It’s a nice set for the 2pac fan to add to their collection., especially if you are looking for music from 2pac that has been unreleased.
