One Tree Hill, Season four premieres on Wednesday September 27th on the new CW network. If you missed any of season 3 you will be glad to know that the riveting third season of One Tree Hill is now on DVD. The gorgeous six disc set includes all 22 episodes from the shows third season. The set also includes an awesome full color booklet that includes detailed episode descriptions, air dates, chapter listing and writing/directing credits.
The third season of One Tree Hill was filled with big storylines. Although the kids would be entering their senior year, don’t expect a graduation just yet. But there are still plenty of big things going on to keep viewers glued to their sets.
Season three introduced the fiery red head Rachel who immediately turned up the heat on the show when she puts the moves on Lucas. There were a lot of good episodes. The time capsule is unveiled and feelings are hurt in the process. The fall out from the time capsule incident will lead to one of the most riveting One Tree Hill storylines ever—a school shooting. As the season winds down the students have to find away to move past the tragedy. There are fun moments and touching emotional situations, like Lucas and his heart condition. Nothing is more special than a wedding, so season three ends on a high.
As for bonus features, the box set includes unaired scenes, and some episodes include commentary. That’s not it—on disc 5 there is a special feature titled “Anatomy of An Episode†which includes the making of several of the seasons most memorable episodes. Disc 6 includes a gag reel.
I recently spoke with show director/writer/executive producer Marc Schwahn. He answered the following questions.
What can fans of the show expect this season?
As I said, I think we are telling our best stories this year. I think the show is a little soapier than it has been in the past. By that I mean situations are a little bigger but the heart of the show and the soul of the show are exactly what it’s always been. The show, even when they have these big incidents even when they have the big stories like the car accident, the stories that are being told around those incidents are heartfelt personal stories. That won’t change.
Will the show ever completely transition away from the high school setting?
Yeah if we get a season five the kids are going to graduate obviously. But I think right now they are finishing up their senior year and I think that’s a really important time in the lives of adolescents. What’s interesting about this season, and I haven’t told anyone this, is that the first half of the season doesn’t involve the school that much. We tell very few stories about school. I think in the second half of the season, because it is their senior year, I think it would be an injustice to not tell stories about kids who are worried about college and relationships that may go away or may begin.

ynopsis:
Senior year. A time to grow up, to forget, to forgive, to dream, to learn to love all over again. People come together — except Dan, consumed by anger as he tracks down whoever started the fire that almost took his life. Tree Hill is rocked by powerful new events — the good, the bad and the catastrophic. The good: Haley fights to save her marriage, Peyton comes to terms with her birth mother, Brooke creates a hot clothing line, and Keith comes home. The bad: Dan gets a rival for worst person in Tree Hill — a conniving redhead named Rachel, the new girl at school. The catastrophic: Tragedy strikes Tree Hill High, and suddenly who wins the cheerleading tournament or basketball championship seems insignificant compared to who lives. And who doesn’t.
