Fresh off the heals of his Golden Globe win, Hugh Laurie is set to star in the upcoming third season of the Fox drama House. If you missed any season two episodes fear not, House, M.D. Season two is now available on DVD.
The second season of House was just as dramatic and well written as season one. Some of the cases were a little more far fetched, but after all isn’t that what House is all about? Watching Dr. House solve these rare medical conditions with his unorthodox methods and unique bedside manner is what brings viewers back every season.
The second season of House opened with two gripping medical cases. Dr. Cameron has grown close to a young woman with a spot on her lungs. Dr. House takes one look at the x-ray and tells Dr. Cameron that the woman has terminal lung cancer. Hoping against hope, Dr. Cameron hopes that House will explore other possible diagnosis but he stands firm in his original diagnosis. House can’t devote too much time to Dr. Cameron’s patient because he and the rest of the junior staff are too engrossed in the case of a death row inmate who House brings to the hospital to “make him better†before his death sentence can be carried out. The inmate is played by none other than LL Cool J, who gives a riveting performance as an inmate on the edge. Dr. Foreman initially has no compassion for the inmate but following his final diagnosis he thinks he may understand why the inmate behaved the way he did in the past.
Season two is simply excellent. Each case will have the viewer captivated. Stand out episodes include the episode “Autopsy,†in which House stops the heart and drops the temperature of a young cancer patient, “Hunting,†in which a patient with AIDS follows House home, and “Euphoria†part 1 & two in which Dr. Foreman finds himself as a patient. By season’s end Dr. House will also find himself as a patient in the hospital.
House, M.D. Season Two features 24 episodes on six discs. There is no booklet with episode descriptions but a brief synopsis of each episode is included on the box flap. Bonus features include:
-An evening with House
-Blooper Reel
-Alternate Takes: The Valley Girl Versions
-It Could Be Lupus
