The television series “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose,” is finally available on DVD. Shout! Factory has released the first 26 episodes of “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose,” on DVD. The four disc set has a running time of 598 minutes. In the fall of 1990, Fox Television was doing well with the second season of “Beverly Hills 90210″ arriving on the airwaves. To buffer this one hour drama, Fox premiered “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose.” This half hour sitcom was very well written and worthy of Emmy awards. The show starred actor Corin Nemac as popular Santo Domingo High School student Parker Lewis. Parker Lewis was a witty cad of a teenager who ran his circle of popular friends. The set design is 90’s modern and the clothes capture the essence of the early 1990’s. Parker’s friends Mikey, Kube, and his sister Shelly help to round out the ensemble cast of the show. Most of the episodes are good and memorable and deal with basic high school plots. The episode “Parker Lewis Must Lose,” is about Parker running for class president and he decides that he is interested in dating his opponent. Another good episode is “Saving Grace,” in which the popular and beautiful principal “Grace Musso,” leaves Santa Domingo high and Parker Lewis and his friends work hard to make sure that Ms. Musso gets her job back. Despite their antics, this episode proves that Parker and his friends really do care about Ms. Musso. The fight to save Ms. Musso is not an instant win, in the episode “Against the Norm,” Parker must again fight to save the principals job when her so called replacement shows up in town again. One of the funniest episodes is the episode “King Kube.” When Parker’s friend helps Kube to get elected as homecoming king, Kube doesn’t realize that it’s a joke. Kube doesn’t take it so well when he finds out that it isn’t real. The episode “Teens from a Mall” is really funny as Parker Lewis searches the mall for the perfect girlfriend. The show “Parker Lewis” is a real fun show for teens and adults both male and female. Hopefully, future seasons of “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose,” will arrive on DVD in the future.

Shout! Factory has really done a great job when it comes to pleasing fans of 1980’s television. “Mr. Belvedere” Season Three is now available on DVD for the first time. Shout! Factory released “Mr. Belvedere Seasons 1 & 2″ on DVD earlier this year. The release was well received by fans of the television show.

The laughs continue with the release of “Mr Belvedere Season 3.” This release features 22 episodes. The four DVD set is in stores now. The air dates for the episodes are 9/26/1986 to 5/15/1987. The the season starts with the episode “The Thief.” In this episode Heather, the daughter on the show is working at a record store and her boyfriend tries to steal from the store leading to a sticky situation. The situations that the Owen’s family has to deal with during the third season include George’s near death experience, Mr. Belvedere having to deal with the possibility of being deported, Marsha’s pregnancy scare, and Kevin falling in love with an older woman. This third season of Mr. Belvedere included a lot of melancholoy moments and many happy moments. The episode “Deportation:Part 1,” is a very sad and touching episode. The television show “Mr. Belvedere” was always about friendship and loyalty. In this episode, Wesley, angry at Mr. Belvedere calls the Department of Immigration on “Mr. Belvedere” and Mr.Belvedere almost gets deported from the United States. The episode is two parts and in the episode “Deportation: Part 2″ the family tries to make sure that Mr. Belvedere doesn’t have to leave the United States of America Another really good episode of the third season is the episode “Pills.” In this episode, the daughter of the Owens household Heather is in a situation where she considers taking weight loss drugs. With the help of her mother, Heather addresses the drug situation. The third season of “Mr Belvedere” ends with the episode “College Bound,” in which the oldest son is ready to go to college but George and Marsha have to deal with the reality that college is expensive. “Mr. Belvedere” is a fun show to watch almost twenty years or so since it went off of the air. Television fans will enoy adding this DVD to their collection. The running time of the DVD is +250 minutes. “Mr Belvedere Season Three” is in stores now.

The 80’s are remembered for being a decade of fun loving family sitcoms. Shout! Factory has been making fans of 80’s television happy the past few years by releasing many of these shows on DVD for the first time. “My Two Dads” was a funny family show that premiered on NBC in 1987. The show starred Greg Evigan and Paul Reiser. “My Two Dads” was a hit for Paul Reiser before he hit it big with “Mad About You.” The premise of the show was about a 12 year old girl named Nicole Bradford whose mom had died. After the death of her mother, Nicole is placed in the home of two men who take on the role of her father. The show was a cute ensemble show. The show was a coming of age show about a young girl growing up in the home of two men without a woman in the house. “My Two Dads-The Complete First Season” features 22 episodes from the shows first season. The box set opens with the episode “My Two Dads.” In this episode, Nicole Bradford is left in the custody of her brand new fathers. Nicole is happy living with her new fathers Michael and Joey. Both of the fathers have personalities of their own. They work hard during the first season to make Nicole feel comfortable in her new living environment. Nicole has to deal with dating, Michael and Joey have to deal with dating considering that they have a young daughter, and the judge who handled the adoption almost becomes a part of the family.

“My Two Dads” was a cute show that lasted several seasons during the 1980’s. The actress Staci Keanan who starred on the show went on to star in the sitcom “Step By Step.” The DVD features a featurette titled “A Look Back at My Two Dads” that features the cast members. The picture quality on the DVD is good considering the age of the show. Fans of the show who haven’t seen it in a long time will be pleased with the DVD release.

Comedienne Katt Williams has released another raunchy hilarious DVD. The comediennes featured on this DVD were featured on the 100 city American Hustle Tour. Black comediennes Luenell, Melanie Comarcho and Red Grant round out the cast of this funny DVD. Katt Williams serves as the executive producer of the DVD. Red Grant is probably the most popular of the comediennes featured on the DVD. Luenell and Melanie Comarcho perform funny routines during the stand up concert DVD. The running time of the DVD is 65 minutes.

The Nanny Diaries started out as a best selling novel. In 2007, the best selling novel was turned into a major motion picture. The Nanny Diaries movie starring Scarlett Johannson, Laura Linney and Alicia Keys is now available on DVD. Scarlett Johanson stars in the movie as Annie. Annie is a college graduate who takes a job working as a nanny for a New York socialite who she doesn’t consider to be the greatest mother in the world. The job isn’t easy at all. While Annie tries to make things work at her nanny job, she attempts to pursue a relationship with a Harvard grad. The Nanny Diaries is a great coming of age story in the sense that it embraces that “first job” out of college experience. Although her nanny job is a nightmare, Annie hangs in there and makes things work.

The 2006 summer movie season had plenty of offerings for young viewers. One of the most popular films of the season was the movie Ant Bully. Ant Bully is such a fun movie with a good message. Lucas is a little boy who feels like an outcast in a sense, as he is bullied by other kids in the neighborhood. Rather than standing up to his own bully, Lucas takes out his anger on a bunch of ants in his yard. When Lucas’ parents go out of town for vacation, he finds himself on an adventure that he never imagined. The ants in his yard think of him as the destroyer. One of the ants concocts a potion that shrinks Lucas to teeny tiny ant size. The ants take him prisoner and decide to teach him a lesson. They teach Lucas, the small boy, to live life like an ant. Ants believe in teamwork. They also love sweet rocks (jelly beans). Trouble is brewing though. The exterminator is headed their way. It’s up to Lucas to work with his newfound ant friends to save the day.

The Ant Bully is a wonderful family film. Kids will walk away from this film with a clear message about why it’s not good to be a bully and the importance of team work.

The film includes voice talent from Julia Roberts, Nicholas Cage, Meryl Streep and Paul Giamatti.

Plot Synopsis: Lucas Nickle’s the new kid in town and the local bully, Steve, makes sure he knows it. Lucas gets so fed up with being bullied, he takes out his frustration on ants in his backyard in hilarious ways, like squirting them with his garden hose or stamping on the ant hill. The ants are understandably fed up with this and Zoc the ant wizard uses a potion to shrink him down to ant size! Lucas is sentenced to hard labor in the ruins and learns to be more compassionate to ants. He becomes an ant friend, then must become an ant hero when Stan Beals, the local pest control guy, who’s an even bigger bully, comes to wipe out the entire colony. An “ants vs pest control” battle ensues and Zoc reluctantly accepts that Lucas may be the ants’ only chance of survival.

Now available on DVD is Who Made The Potato Salad? The film features an all star cast of African-American talent. Jaleel White, who is best known for his role as Steve Urkel on Family Matters stars as Michael. Michael is a young police officer who is in love with his beautiful girl friend Ashley. After he proposes, he has to meet her family. Michael and Ashley soon meet Ashley’s very boisterous and stereotypical ghetto family. Her father, portrayed by character actor Clifton Powell has a very short fuse and curses quite often. He is upset that his daughter has brought home a “pig” and says he even would have preferred a gangsta rapper. De Ray Davis (Wild N Out) stars in the film as Ashley’s super hood brother. The family members curse at the drop of a hat even when young children are present. Ashley and her mother seem to be the quiet reserved ones in the family.

There is nothing funny about Who Made The Potato Salad in my opinion? It’s a sad commentary on black America and is equivalent to a modern day blaxpoitation film. It seems that it aims to be similar to movies like Friday, which was a hilarious movie, but Who Made The Potatoe Salad? falls far short. It’s a film about a young black man with a respectable career who is taunted and teased by his fiancés ignorant family about his career choice—a joke which gets stale real quick.

The film really does include an all star cast which includes Ella Joyce, Tiny Lister, Reynaldo Rey, with a special appearance by Eddie Griffin.

I’m sure there are some people out there who will find this film hilarious and will even feel like it was made about their family. I for one couldn’t relate–or bring myself to laugh at this atrocity.
